             Sai Spiritual Education

Sri Sathya Sai Service Organisation UK organised activities and Pinner Sai Centre SSE have a dedicated group of Volunteer Teachers with the overall objectives of ensuring that the children and Parents attending the Sai Centre benefit from the Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) programme.
The Discipline and Behaviour policy at the Sai Centre is set up to ensure that all children attending SSE experience a positive, loving, happy and orderly environment, which maintains the safety and security of all concerned.
Respect for All:

Always speak politely to everyone using a low voice, without shouting

Always walk quietly taking gentle steps to avoid any disturbance

Attendance:

Regular and consistent attendance is essential to gain the most out of the Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) programme

Punctuality:

It is utmost important that your child arrives on time in accordance with the SSE start time, please ask the SSE Teacher of the start time. Swami has spoken on many occasions about ‘Time waste is Life waste’.

Upon arrival, the children should be taken to their relevant classes with their entire stationary ready to make a prompt start.

All children should be collected on time at the end of the Sai Centre activities from the designated place, please ask the SSE teacher for the collection point.

Discipline:

Please work sensibly and quietly in your classroom and follow the instructions given by the SSE Teacher. This is even more important as some lessons may be shared by two different classes in one classroom

Always hand in your homework on time and to a good standard that you can be proud of

Inform your SSE teacher when you know that you will be unable to attend a class in advance so they know not to wait for you. Please ensure you have the Teachers contact details to report your Child’s absence.

Always walk in a line when leaving your class, ensuring not to disturb other users of the premises.

Please ensure your mobiles are switched off during lessons unless prior approval has been obtained from the SSE Teacher for exceptional circumstances.

Classroom Property:

Please do not touch any displays in the classroom as slightest of damage can jeopardise the use of the classes in future.

Leave the classroom in the same way you found it and ensure you take all your property with you end of each lesson.

Dear Parents / Guardian and Children,
Jai Sai Ram
.
We would like to welcome you to Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) at Pinner Sai Centre and hope you and your children will enjoy your time with us. The Sai Education programme supports ‘The Every Child Matters’ Agenda and the principles of inclusive education. SSE (Bal Vikas) classes are held every Sunday between 8:55 and 10:00 am at the Centre.
There will be ample of opportunities for you and your children to take part in some of the regular activities organised at the centre as well as seeing your children perform on special festivals and celebrations through the term time.
We thought you would find a short introduction about Bal Vikas / SSE useful.
The Education wing of the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation in India was founded in 1969 and was called ‘Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vihar’ however Sai Baba soon changed the name to ‘Bala Vikas’ hence to make education like the ‘flower-way’ of child growth. ‘Vikas’ is what the bud does, when it blossoms into a lovely flower."
The early beginnings of the Bal Vikas movement were quite simple. During the 1950s and early sixties, Sai Baba had repeatedly urged parents to fulfil the spiritual needs of their children. He insisted that parents should take up the responsibility of moulding the character of children who in turn would shape the destiny of the nation. During Baba’s divine discourse in July 1974, he said:
‘Children are the crops growing in the fields, to yield the harvest on which the nation has to sustain itself. They are the pillars on which the foundation of the nation’s future is built. They are the roots of the national tree, which has to give the fruits of work, worship and wisdom to the next generation.
Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) is 9 year programme for children aged from 6 to 15 years old of all faiths to enable them to manifest their own divinity. To do this, the SSE teachers will use 5 teaching techniques: Prayers, Mediation (Silent Sitting for the young ones), Story Telling, Group Devotional Singing, and Group Activities to develop and promote the 5 Human Values and their Sub-Values.

Values Sub-values

Love kindness, compassion, helpfulness
Peace calmness, attentiveness, patience
Truth equality, discrimination, spirit of inquiry
Right Conduct good behaviour, courage, and self-confidence
Non-Violence universal love, concern for all life, loyalty

In addition to the above, we at Pinner Sai Centre are very fortunate to be able to offer ‘Pre Nursery’ for children under the age of 4 years old (accompanied by their parents during the lessons) and Nursery classes for 4 – 6 years old. With Sai Baba’s grace, we are blessed with experienced and committed members of the teaching team. One of the fundamental teachings of Sai Baba is to “Help Ever Hurt Never” and for the children’s personal application they are taught, “WATCH”

W= Watch your Words
A= Watch your Actions
T= Watch your Thoughts

C= Watch your Character
H= Watch your Heart

We encourage “Ceiling on Desires” in relation to money, food, time and energy. Any savings made through personal sacrifice are deployed to service projects/activities in the community. The 9 Point Code of Conduct has been devised to encourage families to participate in the Sathya Sai Service Organisation activities away from home as well as doing things at home with the family members such as praying and eating together on a regular basis.
